BVSFRoger West, Secretary General of the BVSF supplied us with the following regarding their next AGM.

‘As is the norm for the BVSF, actions relative to Aprils AGM/SEMINAR are always underway by October of the previous year which although appears premature is only 6 months away and it takes a lot of planning! Therefore it is confirmed that the next AGM will be held on April 11th 2019 at the Wharton Hall Hotel near Coventry, indeed the same venue as this year.

Whether I am able to produce the same weather as this year is in doubt but the actual event will be in the same format with the AGM in the morning with perhaps a presentation before breaking for the buffet lunch following which will be circa 4 further presentations.

So far we have confirmed presentations from the Environment Agency and we are awaiting a response from the ABI, eBay and the Police. Other presenters will be sought as the weeks go on.

The evening section of the event will be the same format as this year with an evening meal interspersed by an entertainer of some sort, the inevitable raffle which always causes considerable amusement and of course the presentation of the Combellack Award to a company or individual who has gone above and beyond that which is expected during the course of the preceding year. I should advise at this point that the table wine is sponsored by DH Systems for which we, at the BVSF are eternally grateful.

As is the norm for our event the AGM, Seminar and Buffet Lunch is totally free of charge to members, strategic partners and their guests. The only cost involved is for those that wish to stay for the evening or indeed overnight. The costs are heavily discounted and of course staying over means that within reason the bar may be visited without risk to ones driving licence!

Displayers will be both inside and outside again in 2019 with this year some 14 companies showing off their wares we are confident of another good turnout.

Invitations to attend will be issued to all members and strategic partners on or around the first working day of 2019 and it is recommended that those wishing to attend get their application forms back in a timely manner.

I look forward to seeing as many members as possible on the day.

I can confirm that I also welcome a limited number of non members at a small cost to give them the opportunity of seeing at first hand what the BVSF are involved in with a view of membership following the event. Contact should be made via email on

Failing that, join us, come along for free and enjoy all other advantages that membership brings.’

Owain Griffiths

Head of Circular Economy at Volvo Cars

Owain joined Volvo Cars in June 2021 to lead Circular Economy in the Global Sustainability Team. The company has committed to being a circular business by 2040 and has financial, recycled content and CO2 based targets for 2025, all of which Owain is working across the company to make happen. Owain previously worked for circular economy consultancy Oakdene Hollins where he advised businesses on evidence led circular economy implementation.

Turning into a circular business and the importance of vehicle reuse and recycling.

The presentation will cover the work Volvo Cars is doing to achieve 2025 but mainly focus on the transformational work towards 2040 and the business and value chain changes being considered. Attention will be paid to the way vehicles are being dealt with at the end of life and the complexities of closing material and component loops. Opportunities and challenges which Volvo Cars is facing will be presented including engagement with 3rd parties and increasing pressure from stakeholders.
