China moves eight kinds of waste import to “restricted” list

To further standardise the import management of solid waste and prevent environmental pollution, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Development and Reform, and the General Administration of Customs, in accordance with the Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Environmental Pollution by Solid Wastes, the Measures for the Administration of Imports of Solid Wastes and Relevant Laws and Regulations. The following adjustments are made to the current Catalogue of Solid Wastes for Non-Restricted Imports that Can Be Used as Raw Materials and Catalogue of Solid Wastes Restricting Imports for Use as Raw Materials:

Eight kinds of solid wastes such as scrap steel, copper waste and scrap, and aluminum waste and scrap will move from its “Catalogue of Solid Waste Not Restricted to Import as Raw Materials” to its “Catalogue of Solid Waste Restricted to Import as Raw Materials”. The Catalogue of Solid Wastes will take effect on the 1st of July 2019.

The presentation will cover the work Volvo Cars is doing to achieve 2025 but mainly focus on the transformational work towards 2040 and the business and value chain changes being considered. Attention will be paid to the way vehicles are being dealt with at the end of life and the complexities of closing material and component loops. Opportunities and challenges which Volvo Cars is facing will be presented including engagement with 3rd parties and increasing pressure from stakeholders.
