With 100 in attendance, Vehicle Recycling Dismantling The Future conference, held on 27th November at theAdvanced Propulsion Centre at Warwick University was a great success and has received so much positive feedback.
With the intention of bringing major stakeholders in the vehicle recycling industry together and looking at the opportunities and challenges ahead, it was achieved with the high standard of speakers who certainly delivered insightful information and food for thought for all in attendance at the conference.
The speakers were amazing throughout the day including Andy Latham who kicked off the conference on EV safety, Alan Colledge from Cawleys discussed storage and transportation with regard to EVs and their batteries and following this was Sam Haig on his expertise in the challenges of lithium-ion battery recycling. Caroline Guest, Innovation Manager at WMG spoke about the value beyond EV batteries. Steve Hope from Toyota gave his presentation from a manufacturer’s perspective and the approach that Toyota are taking with regards to EVs.
The afternoon’s session included Andrew Marsh, Engineering Director, AIC who gave an overview on the challenges faced by OEMs with a focus on vehicle recycling. IAEA President, Tony Simpson discussed the importance of collaboration between stakeholders in the industry and something that was highlighted throughout the day by delegates.
David Williams, an insurer from AXA, one of the two final speakers of the day spoke about the challenges and opportunities with regards to the use of green parts and to round off the event, from a dismantler’s point of view, Jason Cross from SYNETIQ gave his thoughts on what the industry needs to focus on with regards to future vehicle recycling.
The day was ram packed with information on the potential impact of EVs in the vehicle recycling industry and how all stakeholders must work together collaboratively with regard to green parts. There was plenty of time for networking and an opportunity to take in the surroundings of the venue itself.
