ATF Professional Conference Success

With 100 in attendance, Vehicle Recycling Dismantling The Future conference, held on 27th November at theAdvanced Propulsion Centre at Warwick University was a great success and has received so much positive feedback.

With the intention of bringing major stakeholders in the vehicle recycling industry together and looking at the opportunities and challenges ahead, it was achieved with  the high standard of speakers who certainly delivered insightful information and food for thought for all in attendance at the conference.

The speakers were amazing throughout the day including Andy Latham who kicked off the conference on EV safety, Alan Colledge from Cawleys discussed storage and transportation with regard to EVs and their batteries and following this was Sam Haig on his expertise in the challenges of lithium-ion battery recycling. Caroline Guest, Innovation Manager at WMG spoke about the value beyond EV batteries. Steve Hope from Toyota gave his presentation from a manufacturer’s perspective and the approach that Toyota are taking with regards to EVs.

The afternoon’s session included Andrew Marsh, Engineering Director, AIC who gave an overview on the challenges faced by OEMs with a focus on vehicle recycling. David Williams, an insurer from AXA, one of the two final speakers of the day spoke about the challenges and opportunities with regards to the use of green parts and to round off the event, from a dismantler’s point of view, Jason Cross from SYNETIQ gave his thoughts on what the industry needs to focus on with regards to future vehicle recycling.

The day was ram packed with information on the potential impact of EVs in the vehicle recycling industry and how all stakeholders must work together collaboratively with regard to green parts. There was plenty of time for networking and an opportunity to take in the surroundings of the venue itself.

We asked a handful of those in attendance for their feedback on the day’s proceedings:

Richard Martin, Managing Director of SYNETIQ said:

“Thanks to the ATF team for pulling together a great first conference. Good to see so many people from our industry taking time out to think and plan for the future. The SYNETIQ team are looking forward to next year’s event.”

Tony Simpson, President of IAEA said:

“It was a real engagement with the collaboration of all stakeholders in the industry with regards to communication and in achieving a mutual understanding to provide society with a beneficial sustainable environmental and economic future. The day was about exploring opportunities, with the journey just beginning and as a conference I didn’t want to leave until the very end.”

Simon Bastin-Mitchell, Automotive Recycling Consultant at Bastin-Mitchell Consultancy, a delegate at the conference said:

“For me, it was so good to see a room full of insurers, assessors, manufacturers and dismantlers openly talking. It was a friendly event and a great networking opportunity with a lot of positive feedback. As an event it was definitely worth going to and I hope that ATF Professional will do it again next year.”

Roger West, Secretary General of the BVSF commented:

“I was fortunate enough to attend the inaugural Vehicle Recycling Conference organised by ATF Professional, on 27th November at Warwick University. The quality of the speakers was excellent and the presentations created a good number of pertinent questions. The venue nice and central for visitors. It was obvious that the 100 attendees went away with a great deal of information, I certainly learned a lot. I am very happy that the organisers, Haydn and Sian, have agreed to do the same again next year and I thank them both for their hard work.”

Mia Constable, Head of Business Development  – e2e Total Loss Vehicle Management said:

“It was a pleasure for e2e Total Loss Vehicle Management to be the Gold Sponsor at ATF Professional’s first conference: Vehicle Recycling – Dismantling the Future. The opportunity for the industry to network, collaborate and share ideas on how vehicle recycling is evolving and in particular the challenges and opportunities presented by the transition to electric vehicles, was extremely well received. This event will go from strength to strength.”

Haydn Davies, Director of ATF Professional said:

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all who attended the event and for the support by our sponsors. We have been overwhelmed by the number of positive responses we have received and we were so pleased that we were able to bring together major stakeholders which only contributed to making the day such a success.”

Please continue to check out ATF Professional for more in depth reviews about the conference in the coming weeks.
