Registration launched for CARS 2020: Event Preview

With less than five months to go until the biennial Complete Auto Recycling Show (CARS), the ticket registration form is now open for visitors. As headline media partner, ATF Professional has been granted an exclusive glimpse into what’s in store for those heading to the event.

On first look, one of the most notable changes from previous editions is the date. This year, CARS will take place on the earlier dates of 03 & 04 June 2020 with the organisers citing the close proximity of other industry events as a positive reason for the change. Europe’s leading event for vehicle recyclers remains at Stoneleigh Park for a second time, while space for both indoor and outdoor exhibits has been increased.

2020 will see the show given a more professional look and feel with the introduction of carpet and exhibition booths, opposed to the drapes and bare floors which have been the tradition since the show’s conception at Hills Salvage & Recycling in Liverpool in 2012.

SPEAKER PROGRAMME

The organisers are also delighted to reveal a snapshot of some of the expert speakers who will be addressing visitors in one of two conference theatres. At the start of a new decade, the agenda has both a reflective and forward-thinking feel tackling current challenges and future opportunities.

To provide an update from a regulatory perspective, Malcolm Lythgo, head of waste regulation at the Environment Agency will address the event, and the broad programme will cover a host of practical topics relevant to the modern-day recycler.

This includes a fascinating session on safe processing and end markets for batteries, WEEE & ELV derived plastics.

Speakers are currently being invited for a panel discussion on ‘developing a market for green parts’ which many see as the industry’s next big opportunity. The multinational panel has been asked to reflect on how attitudes have changed since the inaugural CARS show.

In one of the more business focussed sessions, presenters from employment specialist Croner will provide an overview of the ‘Good Work Plan’ which comes into legislation in April. While mental health charity SPEAK will provide a case study of their work undertaken with metal recycler Binn Group, providing internal support and communication to help improve the wellbeing of their employees.

REACHING CAPACITY

Registration launched for CARS 2020: Event PreviewIn 2016, CARS was co-located with the Metals Recycling Event and since then both shows have seen growth and expansion to serve the two closely connected sectors. MRE is organised in association with the British Metals Recycling Association (BMRA) and CARS with the Vehicle Recyclers Association & the British Vehicle Salvage Federation.

Indications are that both events will reach capacity, the indoor exhibition hall is currently 75% full and there are very limited spaces remaining in the outdoor and live demonstration areas.

This year’s demonstration will see machinery and equipment put through its paces processing metal and end of life vehicles. Blue Group and E H Hassells & Sons will be demonstrating their respective Fuchs and Sennebogen material handlers, while Lefort, Doyle Machinery and JMC Recycling will be running their balers and shredders. SB Recycling Machinery will also be operating their range of Butti Sweepers.

HEADLINES

As a reflection of the event’s consistent growth and expansion, 2020 has seen a number of businesses choose to align themselves as a headline partner of the event. These businesses are Blue Group, eBay for Business, Hollander International, Lefort, JMC Recycling and SYNETIQ.

Speaking ahead of the event, Laura Richards, Senior Business Development Manager for eBay Automotive said:

“We are pleased to be back for the second time at the CARS show. eBay strongly supports the community of recyclers that are creating fantastic environmental benefits by selling reclaimed parts and offering a quality service to buyers. There is a lot of positive change happening for recyclers on the eBay platform in 2020 and the CARS show couldn’t be a better place to announce it.”
