Harvington based agricultural equipment salvage specialists, Adam Hewitt Ltd, set up a fundraising site to raise funds for NHS Charities Together/Association of NHS Charities in April, during the lockdown and since then, Adam and his team have been overwhelmed by the amount of support they have received.

Initially, their target was to raise £25,000 but to date, their appeal has exceeded £60,000.

At Adam Hewitt Ltd, they came up with the idea that during lockdown they would donate the proceeds of one lot from their weekly auction, and one such donation contributed was in excess of £6500 for a 2013 slurry tanker.

Thanks must also go to their customers, who kindly provided donations, and of course, the money from the sales of Hewitt’s NHS T-Shirts went towards the fundraiser.

Adam Hewitt Ltd received a letter from Justine Davy, Head of Fundraising, NHS Charities Together, and in it she said:

“To raise £60,000 is phenomenal and I am sure that you are all very proud of this achievement. We are so grateful to your whole team for the dedicated fundraising you have done over the last few months.”

She said: “Thanks to support such as yours, NHS Charities across the UK are being able to support the NHS staff, volunteers, and patients in their hospitals in ways above and beyond what NHS funding can ordinarily provide.”

Ms Davy, also pointed out that through people’s support and generosity, their ‘COVID-19 Urgent Appeal has reached the amazing milestone of £130 million.’

There are over 250 NHS charities across the UK with a focus on helping our hospitals do more. Collectively these charities give £1 million every day to the NHS so that people can stay well for longer and get better faster. In recent years NHS charities have funded major capital projects, pioneering research and medical equipment at our hospitals, helping patients access the best possible care when they need it most.

They play a key role in mobilising volunteers to support NHS staff, brightening wards and waiting areas with colourful and engaging art and building an important link between our hospitals and our communities. Other NHS charities support mental health trusts, community health trusts and ambulance trusts.

These vital funds and services are above and beyond what the NHS alone can provide, touching lives and making a huge difference to millions of people when they are at their most vulnerable.

Adam Hewitt, Managing Director of Adam Hewitt Ltd said:

“A massive thank you to you all! When we started this I was not expecting to get to our target of £25,000, we have ended with just over £60,000. It’s great how people pull together in times of need. Thank you again for all your help and support.”
