MBA Polymers UK who are part of the EMR Group and operate the most advanced plastics recycling facilities in the world has strengthened its team with a series of new appointments. After a challenging period for all industries working through the effect of covid, we are delighted to announce two new appointments who will not only bring enthusiasm, a wealth of experience and new ideas but will also support in achieving our long-term strategic plan.

Sam Marsters and Jonathan Armishaw

Sam Marsters has joined as Engineering & Maintenance Manager where he forms part of the senior leadership team in Worksop. Sam has over 20 years’ experience in maintenance, production and project management roles.

Jonathan Armishaw has joined as Plastics Recycling Manager. Jonathan joins MBA with over 20 years’ experience in Purchasing, Engineering and Project Management within the Automotive and Manufacturing sector, and has experience in the recycling of many types of plastics. Jonathan’s primary focus will be to build on the current business and support plans for the future growth of the MBA business.

Owain joined Volvo Cars in June 2021 to lead Circular Economy in the Global Sustainability Team. The company has committed to being a circular business by 2040 and has financial, recycled content and CO2 based targets for 2025, all of which Owain is working across the company to make happen. Owain previously worked for circular economy consultancy Oakdene Hollins where he advised businesses on evidence led circular economy implementation.

The presentation will cover the work Volvo Cars is doing to achieve 2025 but mainly focus on the transformational work towards 2040 and the business and value chain changes being considered. Attention will be paid to the way vehicles are being dealt with at the end of life and the complexities of closing material and component loops. Opportunities and challenges which Volvo Cars is facing will be presented including engagement with 3rd parties and increasing pressure from stakeholders.
