A re-launch event at Silverlake’s site in Shedfield, Southampton was attended by charity representatives, local businesses and dignitaries. Players from Eastleigh Football Club, where Silverlake is the stadium sponsor, unveiled a UDonateacar fundraising barometer. Students from local colleges have been invited to take part in a competition to design a UDonateacar car sticker, to be given to all who make a donation through the scheme. Each month, donators will also be entered into a prize draw to win hospitality tickets for a home game at Eastleigh Football Club.

UDonateacar provides an easy way for people to make a hassle-free donation to charity. Customers visiting can get a competitive valuation and choose how much of the value of their car they wish to donate, 100% of which goes to Global’s Make Some Noise with no hidden fees. The UDonateacar team collect the car for free, handle all the DVLA paperwork, make the payments to the owner and the charity and provide a donation receipt. Customers using the scheme can also be confident that they have disposed of their car ethically and reduced their carbon footprint.

Silverlake will remove any parts from the car that are of good enough quality and safe to be re-used in the repair of other cars as ‘recycled green parts’. The rest of the car is depolluted and destroyed with over 95% recycled as scrap materials for reuse. Vehicles in better condition may be re-sold at auction for repair and re-use. All this takes place at the company’s Authorised Treatment Facility in Southampton which is regulated by the Environment Agency.

“2021 is Silverlake’s 75th anniversary and we believe giving something back is the best way to celebrate. The Covid pandemic has created challenges and compounded suffering in a way that previously could not be imagined. Funding for charities has never been more in need and we wanted to provide our customers an easy way they can make a difference too, by supporting vital small charities that might otherwise get overlooked, via our scheme. We’re excited to see how much we can achieve with this new partnership with Make Some Noise. Our thanks also go to KINTO UK for their kind donation of an electric car, to allow the UDonateacar team to visit local businesses and attend local events to spread the word and encourage donations.”

Make Some Noise awards grants to small, local charities that apply for funding and successfully meet the rigorous assessment and qualifying criteria. Outstanding examples in the Southampton area include Yellow Door, set up to prevent and respond to domestic and sexual abuse; Abby’s Heroes, which supports children, teenagers, young adults and their families when diagnosed with cancer; and The Rosemary Foundation providing hospice at home care for patients suffering from cancer or other life-threatening conditions.

“It’s fantastic news that Silverlake has selected Global’s Make Some Noise as its Charity of the Year, using its UDonateacar platform. Together we hope to make a huge difference to many amazing small charities and projects doing life changing work in communities across the UK.”

Matthew Rumble, CEO, KINTO UK said:

“We are extremely pleased to be working closely with Silverlake on this campaign. I hope our collaboration will encourage more businesses and individuals to donate their end-of-life vehicles via the UDonateacar scheme and by doing so support small, local community charities.”
