“OEM backorder supply issues will lead to increased write-offs” – SYNETIQ responds to OEM parts backorder issues

SYNETIQ has established a dedicated team to support bodyshops with parts supply issues, following a sharp increase in the number of parts now on backorder from OEM vehicle manufacturers.

SYNETIQ, a leading supplier of OEM green parts, supplies reusable items into hundreds of bodyshops and vehicle repair centres across the UK. The business is now responding to significant demand from new and existing clients, resulting from the large number of brand-new items on backorder from manufacturers.

Many common vehicle parts, such as headlights, bumpers, and doors, are now suffering significant supply delays, with some OEM manufacturers unable to confirm when certain items will become available.

SYNETIQ says the issue will likely lead to an increase in the number of vehicles being written off, as well as longer ‘vehicle off road’ time, meaning vehicle insurers may face additional costs incurred while providing courtesy vehicles to policyholders.

Following the appointment of SYNETIQ’s newly appointed Green Parts Director, Sarah Hirst, the business has worked hard to engage with senior members of the body shop industry to understand the current challenges being faced by the sector.

“Providing safe, certified green parts is a key area of our business,” says Sarah. “We recognise how important our bodyshop clients are and want to do everything we can to support them with OEM backorder supply challenges.”

“Although the current supply backorders remain an issue, this has allowed us to demonstrate how viable green parts are for use in collision repair, as a cost-effective, sustainable alternative to brand new OEM parts.”

SYNETIQ has now established a dedicated point of contact for backorder parts requests – backorder@synetiq.co.uk.

With the largest and most diverse stock of green parts for most vehicles in the UK, bodyshops, fleet and insurance companies can reduce the CO2 impact of collision repair. SYNETIQ’s stock management systems and rapid delivery also mean that vehicle down-time is minimised, getting vehicles back on the road faster, for less.
