K&M Global, vehicle dismantlers and specialists in commercial fleet vehicle disposal based in Manchester, recently responded to appeals for aid during the Ukraine conflict by donating an ambulance filled with emergency medical supplies as part of a convoy.
Rick Suthers, K&M Global Sales Director, explained to the Saddleworth Independent:
“Nathan Evans of Trafford Council contacted us to see if we could help out with an ambulance to travel in a convoy to Ukraine, and of course, we said we would do gladly.
We decided we would donate a Renault Master ambulance and fill it with emergency medical equipment and other humanitarian aid.”
Rick continued:
“We reached out for donations and had a lot of support from business partners and friends, so were able to fill it.
We delivered the ambulance to Nathan and Laura Evans in Cheshire, who are driving south in the northern convoy to join the southern convoy of the Global Outreach Doctors, led by Khaled El Mayet.
There are seven ambulances in the convoy, and they will travel to Dover, across to Calais and then drive across Europe to hand over on the Poland-Ukraine border.
We’re very pleased to help and will be staying involved, and we are hoping to send another ambulance in the next convoy.”
Rick told ATF Professional that since saying the above, the convoy left Dover last night (15th March) and is driving across Europe to reach the Poland-Ukraine border. He added:
“We were honoured to be asked to get involved in such a worthy cause; donating an ambulance was the least we could do.
We are so grateful to everyone who donated medical & humanitarian aid to load in the back to travel with the vehicle.
Given our background in exporting vehicles worldwide and our extensive knowledge of logistics & customs procedures, we felt we could offer a lot more to the process than just the ambulance.
We wish the convoy the best of luck in their mission.
On the back of our social media posts, we were contacted today by another party in the USA who are looking to obtain an ambulance to take to Romania to help evacuate people from Ukraine.”
