SYNETIQ launches industry-first carbon savings certificates. The scheme demonstrates the carbon savings clients are making through green parts usage and will help raise awareness of the environmental benefits of green parts.
DONCASTER, UK – April 11th, 2022 – SYNETIQ has launched a new sustainability certificate scheme – yet another industry first – utilising green parts to help clients reduce their carbon footprint and achieve their sustainability objectives, as quantified by SYNETIQ’s sustainability team.
The innovative recently developed scheme is targeted at SYNETIQ’s new and existing clients. SYNETIQ then calculates the CO2 savings achieved through green parts usage, helping to clearly demonstrate their environmental commitment.
Understanding carbon savings can also support vehicle repairers calculate their own PAS 2060, the internationally recognised specification for carbon neutrality.
The first certificate recipient is esure, one of the UK’s leading personal lines insurers which, earlier this year, signed a contract with SYNETIQ for the supply of quality graded, green parts to their repairer network.
The certification recognises how, over the past year, the purchase of more than 3,300 green parts by esure repairer partners achieved a combined savings of in excess of 79,000kg of CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent).
The introduction is another major step on SYNETIQ’s ‘Road to Tomorrow’ strategy – a blueprint for how it will remain the most trusted and sustainable business in its sector.
Tom Rumboll, CEO at SYNETIQ, said:
“We are thrilled to have launched our new certification scheme and are equally thrilled that esure – a client that already recognises the huge impact green parts can play in making motoring more sustainable – is the first recipient.
We believe the scheme represents a pivotal moment in the evolution of green parts usage and awareness in the UK. By giving our clients the visibility of the positive impact green parts are having on their carbon footprint and by enabling them to demonstrate this to their own customer base, we expect the adoption to grow and grow.”
Richard Hughes, esure’s Head of Engineering and Repairer Networks said:
“esure are delighted to receive SYNETIQ’s first sustainability certificate. It’s fantastic recognition of the excellent collaboration between esure, SYNETIQ and our Repairer Partners, and our continued focus on reducing our impact on the environment. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Tom Rumboll and the rest of team SYNETIQ, for helping esure on our journey to become a leading sustainable insurer.”
Green parts are used OEM, non-safety critical items – such as doors, engines, headlamps and tailgates – selected from SYNETIQ’s comprehensive inventory. All items are cleaned, checked and graded based on condition, and held in stock before dispatch to repairer partners. Eliminating delay through supply chain issues, the use of green parts can help ensure customer vehicles are fixed faster and in a more sustainable way.
SYNETIQ handles salvage and end of life vehicles each year, recycling an average of 96.3% of each end-of-life vehicle it dismantles – surpassing EU legislative targets. SYNETIQ says its integrated model means it’s perfectly placed to maximise the economic and environmental potential of all salvage or end of life vehicles – whether by safely reusing green parts, or as part of the compliant vehicle recycling process.
In addition to the environmental benefits, there are many straightforward business benefits. Green parts are typically cheaper than new parts and are often not subject to the same global supply shortage issues, making them instantly available.
SYNETIQ’s huge stock of green parts, covering almost every make and model, can be browsed and ordered here.
