ATF network, CarTakeBack, provides July’s update for scrap car prices.
ATF network, CarTakeBack, reported at the start of the summer that the average scrap price for a scrap car had been maintained, however, as we moved into July, prices dropped slightly. After seeing the highest prices on record being offered by their ATFs, July saw those prices take a 7% drop.
Although prices were down month on month, they were up by a decent 34% compared to July last year. CarTakeBack predicted in June that prices would take a hit in July due to factors such as car manufacturing being impacted by supply chains, and the demand for scrap metal fluctuating. Customers are still seeing great scrap values for their old cars as ATFs continue to price competitively.

The Ford Focus was again the most frequently scrapped car at CarTakeBack ATFs in July. The average value of a Ford Focus with the network’s ATFs decreased by 3% in July compared to June.
About the CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index
The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is a rolling monthly index covering the last 13 months. It’s updated monthly using the prices paid for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout the UK. The prices are shown as a percentage, using the first month as the base price.
We’ve taken into account that cars come in all shapes and sizes, which has an effect on their scrap value, by adjusting the prices to show what the average car would be worth. This means that the index gives a great indication of the movement in the value of scrap cars from one month to another.
