Scrap Car Comparison have been crunching the numbers recently and can now provide the definitive list of the most scrapped vans in the Capital over the past 12 months.
England’s capital city is one of the leading powerhouses of business, culture and urban adventure anywhere in the world. Its population is steadily increasing year on year, with the city now playing home to around nine and a half million people.
Not only do drivers have to contend with the growing number of residents and businesses within the City boundaries, but they also have to work around the ever-expanding Ultra-Low Emission Zone around London, let alone the Congestion Charge Zone. While the clean air schemes are easily avoided by commuters, who can take the Underground, for tradesmen and businesses, that luxury can’t be afforded, and you regularly see vans locking up the City’s roads.
So, as the Big Smoke fills up and more and more vans line the streets, it’s inevitable that many of those vehicles will reach the end of their days and need to be taken off to a London scrap heap. Scrap Car Comparison took it into their own hands to see which vans were more likely to end up on a scrap pile.
The Most scrapped vans in London
Unsurprisingly, the most popular van on the roads, the Ford Transit, finds itself atop of the charts in a dominant performance, with more Transits scrapped than all of the remaining top five put together. The rest of the top five sees Vauxhall and Mercedes share the spoils before France takes over, thanks to the Renault Trafic and Kangoo, the Citroen Berlingo and the Peugeot Partner. Finally, the Fiat Scudo squeezes into the final spot in the top ten, waving the flag for Italy.

The Most scrapped van makes in London
With the Transit dominating the model’s chart, it’s no surprise to once again see Ford up at the top of the makes list, too. Vauxhall and Mercedes take their expected spots in second and third when you look at the list of top ten models. Despite not being present in the model’s top ten, Volkswagen jumps in at fourth, pushing Fiat down a peg and knocking Peugeot out of the top ten entirely. Nissan climbs into eighth place before LDV and Iveco, van specialists, round out the top ten.
