As we come towards the end of 2022, Copart is looking back at the charitable causes they have supported throughout the year in its efforts to make a positive impact alongside its customers, communities, and teammates.
Copart is proud to have established a culture that is committed to charitable giving. It’s a culture that’s continued to strengthen and grow across its 20 UK locations, and it forms a major part of its ongoing Copart Cares CSR strategy.
It’s important to Copart that they always act in the right and most responsible way, and are committed to working closely with their teammates, customers, and communities, to identify good causes and make a difference wherever they can.
Open Road West Norfolk
This year, Copart continued to support Open Road West Norfolk, a charity that provides training to young people with an interest in motor vehicles and helps them to gain recognised qualifications.
Copart loaned the charity four modern repairable vehicles this year for the students to work on, to help them gain practical hands-on mechanical skills.
They also provided brand-new Copart branded overalls for students aged 16+, to demonstrate to students that they are joining a supportive industry network that encourages their ongoing training and development.
Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity
Once again, Copart proudly joined forces with other members of the insurance claims industry to support ILC Day, raising funds for the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity by wearing red.
ILC (I Love Claims) is a leading networking forum for UK claims professionals, and Copart became a Corporate Partner in 2020, joining a group of leading UK insurance companies.
Copart has supported ILC Day for many years, and it’s a great way for its nationwide teammates to feel connected and unite together for a worthwhile cause.
All donations collected went to Rainbow Trust, helping them to provide bespoke support to families with a seriously ill child and allowing them to make the most of their precious time together.
Ukraine Appeals
Teammates from Copart’s Wootton Head Office and Customer Excellence Centre at Franklin Court donated essential items to a local appeal for Ukraine, arranged by Bedford’s Polish Club (Stacja Dom Polski).
Teammates donated urgently required items, including torches, first aid supplies, sleeping bags, and protein bars. These were delivered to Prices Candles in Bedford, who were storing the items ahead of their transport across to Ukraine.
The company also supported the fantastic work of John Green (from our customer Clegg Gifford & Co Ltd), who was also organising food and clothing donations. Copart was pleased to play a small part in the operation by organising free delivery of the vehicle being used to transport the much-needed supplies across to Ukraine.
Make 2nds Count
Copart was delighted to be the headline sponsor of the Make 2nds Count Great Gatsby Gala Ball in Edinburgh, with teammates from its Copart Recycling Centre in Inverkeithing also in attendance.
The Gala Ball bought Scottish businesses and fundraising communities together to raise much-needed funds for essential research into incurable secondary breast cancer.
With the cause being very close to the heart of one of our Inverkeithing teammates, we were delighted to support this event which raised over £88,000 and play a part in making a difference to a community close to where we operate.
Giveacar
This year we showed our support for Giveacar, a not-for-profit business and social enterprise which recycles donated used cars to raise money for a wide range of UK charities.
Giveacar, who has a long-standing customer relationship with Copart, gives car owners a simple way to donate unwanted cars and put them to good use while raising money for good causes. To date, they have raised over £4 million for over 1,800 charities and coordinated the collection of over 35,000 vehicles.
As a sponsor of the Twin Town Challenge 2022 (a charity car rally race from Oxfordshire to Le Touquet in France to raise money for the SpecialEffect charity), Giveacar received around 70 vehicle donations after the event.
To show their support, Copart collected these vehicles for Giveacar free of charge, after which they were sold through our online auctions to help raise money for a range of charitable causes.
CHUMS
Teammates from Copart’s Wootton HQ and Customer Excellence Centre in Bedford organised rounders match to raise money for the CHUMS Charity, which provides wellbeing and mental health support services across Bedfordshire.
Over £400 was raised at the event, helping to make a positive difference to the lives of many local children and young people and their families.
Not only did this support their Copart Cares commitment to supporting communities and good causes, but teammates also had lots of fun at the same time!
Macmillan Cancer Support
Once again, Copart teammates all across the UK held Macmillan Coffee Mornings to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Copart has supported this annual event for many years, and its teammates always put a huge amount of effort and passion into raising money for this very worthy cause through bake sales, competitions, and games.
This year, thanks to the generosity of Copart’s teammates, they raised over £1,200 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Ben’s Big Breakfast
Copart raised £800 for the Ben Automotive Industry Charity by taking part in their second ‘Big Breakfast’ fundraising event, helping them to continue providing vital health and wellbeing support services to the automotive community.
The company has been a proud advocate of Ben for many years, having adopted them as their company charity in 2015, and they regularly raise funds for them through various events and initiatives across their nationwide locations.
Copart teammates raised funds by selling breakfast treats, organising games and raffles, and wearing pjs for the day. Some brave teammates from the Wootton Head Office even volunteered to have their legs waxed to raise additional money!
The Insurance Charities
Copart’s National Account Managers were back at the annual Insurance Endurance event again this year, helping to raise £1,700 for The Insurance Charities.
Copart has taken part in this popular networking and racing event, where companies from all across the insurance sector compete against each other, for many years.
It is not only a great opportunity to spend time with our customers but is also an important fundraising event for The Insurance Charities.
The charity provides vital assistance to current and former UK and Irish insurance employees and their families in times of need. The help they offer, including practical support to those with health, money, and housing concerns, is more important now than ever in the face of cost-of-living rises.
Men’s Health Charities
Copart teammates across the UK took part in Movember to highlight men’s health issues, and raise vital funds for mental health and suicide prevention projects.
Since 2003, Movember has funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects around the world.
Our Copart Movember Team grew moustaches throughout the month of November to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s suicide.
Bedford Foodbank
Copart’s Bedford teammates once again supported the All Nations Church Christmas in a Box appeal.
Teammates donated seasonal food items to All Nations Church, who support the work of the Bedford Foodbank by providing local people in crisis with Christmas food boxes.
Last year, the appeal enabled All Nations Church to deliver Christmas Boxes to over 2,000 people in the Bedford area.
Copart has supported this great cause for many years and is proud to play a part in helping the local community during what can be a difficult time of year for many.
Save the Children
The company closed the year with another favourite annual event for Copart with Christmas Jumper Day, where they put on festive knitwear to raise money for Save the Children.
Every year, Copart’s teammates all across the UK make a £2 donation to wear their jumpers and raise additional funds through bake sales, raffles, and games.
Copart’s remote and field-based teammates also join in the fun, thanks to Zoom and Teams video calls.
All proceeds went to Save the Children, helping them to bring essential food, healthcare, education, and protection to millions of children around the world.
Copart thanks all of their amazing teammates for their enthusiasm and generosity towards all these great causes!
