Specialist Vehicle Technicians Adding Value to Copart’s Operations

One of the unique features of Copart is its ability to consistently deliver tangible value to its customers.

Specialist Vehicle Technicians Adding Value to Copart’s Operations pCopart’s online auctions lead the market with an extensive inventory of vehicles, offering its global buyer base more choice than ever before and, for its Sellers, a unique marketplace to remarket through.

With 23 connected Operation Centres and offices across the UK and Ireland, combined with the unique skills of Copart’s teammates up and down the country, the company successfully handle some 500,000 vehicles a year on behalf of its customers.

Underpinning its success is an army of Copart Vehicle Technicians. These teammates ensure Sellers and Buyers alike get the very best value, presenting vehicles in a way that Copart’s Buyers understand, technicalities and all.

With hundreds of Engineers, Vehicle Receivers, and Technicians, Copart offer expertise in vehicle preparation and assessment that is second to none.

Copart knows it is their people that make the difference – which is where individuals like Mick come in.

Mick is one of Copart’s lead Vehicle Technicians and imparts his specialist technical knowledge to teammates across the country. As a qualified Master Technician, Mick provides support to teams in the company’s Operation Centres around the country, developing their skills by enhancing their technical knowledge.

And, as the UK Car Parc continues to evolve, it’s teammates like Mick that help the company stay ahead of the motoring technology curve and ensure that it continuously adds even more value for our customers.

“We’re delighted to say that over 200 Copart Yard Operatives have already benefited from Mick’s expertise and experience to date.

His training includes identifying correct damage codes, taking high quality and accurate vehicle images to provide buyers with a transparent online experience, and using On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) devices to obtain the vehicle odometer readings and to enable the teams to re-set warning lights, messages, and in some cases, crash sensor responses.

Alongside the practical hands-on training, Mick also provides ongoing coaching support, developing technical bulletins, top tips, and videos unique to starting different vehicle types, which are available via our bespoke online Training Hub, accessible to all Copart teammates via their PC or handheld devices at all times.

This programme of upskilling is ultimately adding huge value to our Sellers’ assets. With more vehicles achieving ‘run and drive’, and therefore being showcased in what we refer to as “the best possible light”, we can drive higher returns at our online auctions.”

But it’s not just Copart’s customers who are benefiting.

As part of the ‘Copart Cares’ commitment to its teammates, this practical hands-on style of training and coaching provides valuable personal development opportunities and aids retention by broadening skillsets and creating a more varied and interesting working environment.

As the electric car parc continues to grow and evolve, it’s vital that the company remain strongly focused on delivering specialist training alongside the EV handling infrastructure, equipment, and processes it has already established over the last decade.

Looking to the future, Copart is currently in the process of becoming an IMI-approved accreditation centre.

“We’re initially focused on delivering IMI Level 2&3 EV/Hybrid vehicle training, with a view to providing a full technical training programme across all our Operation Centres later in the year.”
