Copart Cares about Learning at Work Week 2023 p

Supporting the training and personal development of its people has always been at the top of the company’s agenda as part of Copart Cares’ commitment to caring about its teammates. For Learning at Work Week 2023, Copart would like to share some updates on just a few of its current L&D programmes.

Carbon Literacy Training

Copart is well on its way now to achieving the gold level accreditation this year and has recently adopted a new approach to its company-wide training sessions to help get there!

With its managers and remote workers certified as part of Copart’s silver level accreditation, The company is now focused on rolling out the training to teammates based in their Wootton HQ, Customer Excellence Centre in Bedford, and Operation Centres across the UK.

Using a blended approach of both video, eLearning, and in-person workshops, Copart is now delivering the sessions faster and more efficiently, enabling teammates in busy operational roles to complete certain modules at their own pace.

Copart Leadership Programme

The Copart Leadership Programme is going from strength to strength and has now been rolled out to 170 people managers across the business.

The bespoke 3-day course was developed based on feedback from teammates, managers, and HR department, and is specifically tailored to the unique needs of the business.

Focusing on communication, coaching, and relationship building, this programme gives their managers the skills and knowledge to lead their teams effectively and helps the company to provide consistency across its 23 connected Operation Centres and offices across the UK & Ireland.

Copart Apprenticeships

Copart has invested nearly half a million pounds into its apprenticeship schemes which offer its teammates the chance to learn new skills, gain industry-recognised qualifications, and potentially progress within its business.

Copart now supports nearly 200 teammates with their personal development through a wide range of both operational and corporate apprenticeships, and over a third of its apprentices have progressed into new roles at Copart.

Driver Academy

As part of ongoing investment into its logistical capabilities and operational excellence, Copart’s Driver Academy programme was launched to help secure the future supply of Copart drivers.

In addition to external candidates, the company also recruited internally with existing Copart teammates from a variety of roles and locations joining the programme, including Customer Service Representatives and Yard Operatives.

Not only is having internal candidates who already have extensive experience of Copart’s operations a huge advantage, but it has also enabled us to provide even more personal development opportunities to teammates.

78% of enrolees have now completed the programme, and Copart is delighted to welcome these highly skilled and quality-assured new drivers to its transport fleet.

Mental Health First Aiders Programme

Copart has supported teammates across its business to become qualified Mental Health First Aiders.

These teammates have successfully completed their training with St John Ambulance and St Andrews Ambulance.

These Mental Health First Aiders are now ready to provide support to their fellow teammates, providing a vital point of contact for anyone experiencing mental health issues or emotional distress.

This training programme was launched last year, joining Copart’s wide range of health and wellbeing support networks, services, and tools.
