Copart has an exclusive partnership with Polygon Restoration Servicesproviding a unique vehicle recovery, restoration and resale service for flood or fire damaged vehicles.

Recover the best value for flooded vehicles with Copart’s Polygon Partnership p two

Flood or fire damage to vehicles can significantly reduce returns at auction, but Copart’s exclusive partnership with Polygon, a specialist drying and decontamination business, helps their customers to recover the best possible value!

With extreme weather events becoming more commonplace, Copart are delighted to be able to offer this bespoke service to their customers alongside their well-established emergency response and surge management capabilities, which enable us to rapidly handle large volumes of vehicles following flooding or other catastrophic incidents.

With the number of electric and hybrid vehicles steadily increasing in the UK car parc, their safe handling by experts following flood damage is essential due to waterlogging and corrosion of the battery packs, and potentially high or even lethal voltage.

How does the Polygon service work?

Polygon’s patented vehicle restoration process offers innovative solutions for recovering the best possible value from a vehicle that has suffered damage due to water (or smoke).

Water damaged vehicles are fully disassembled in a controlled environment, including removing carpets, upholstery, and trim to allow for further assessment and decontamination.

How are vehicles treated?

A bespoke restoration plan for our customers may include elimination of moulds and contaminants, ultrasonic cleaning process, odour removal, dehumidification, and bacteria testing.

Vehicles with serious storm damage, which cannot be dried out, are taken to one of our Operation Centres to be auctioned or recycled for parts.

What benefits will Copart customers receive?

Copart’s insurance customers benefit exclusively from:

  • Vehicle collection from the damaged site and assessment by Copart.
  • Triage service from Polygon from images.
  • Delivery of vehicle by Copart to Polygon.
  • Report and hygiene test supplied by Polygon.
  • Vehicles being returned to a condition which enables them to be returned to the policyholder in some cases.
  • Maximum exposure to our global buyer base and improved sales return at auction due to vehicle re-categorisation following completion of the decontamination process.

Giving vehicles a new lease of life through value-added services like this reduces scrappage and helps contribute towards the successful delivery of our Plan-Net Zero commitment to both global sustainability and becoming a greener business!

Owain previously worked for circular economy consultancy Oakdene Hollins where he advised businesses on evidence led circular economy implementation.

Turning into a circular business and the importance of vehicle reuse and recycling.

The presentation will cover the work Volvo Cars is doing to achieve 2025 but mainly focus on the transformational work towards 2040 and the business and value chain changes being considered.
