Throughout the final quarter of 2023, the prices offered for scrap cars had exhibited a sense of stability, maintaining an approximate value of £270. However, the dawn of January 2024 ushered in a marginal decline, with figures now resting at £255. This adjustment comes as no surprise against the backdrop of the persisting cost of living crisis. Furthermore, when compared with January 2023, prices have plummeted by a staggering 25%.
Despite this downturn of 6% in prices, there is a positive outlook for vehicle owners, with potential values possibly exceeding current offerings. Notably, January witnessed an upswing in the average value of the Ford Focus, which emerged as the most frequently scrapped car in 2023. This increase translated into a substantial 16% rise, equating to an additional £44 for owners of this particular model.

Notably, the Vauxhall Corsa experienced a slight decrease, with its average value dropping from £247 to £243, reflecting a 2% decline.
