Scrap Car Price Update – February 2024

In the latest update from CarTakeBack, the Scrap Car Price Index for February 2024 has been revealed. Despite the ongoing cost of living crisis, there’s a noteworthy 4% increase in the average scrap car price compared to January. With the average value now standing at £266.

Scrap Car Price Trends

Various factors influence the value of scrap cars, including demand for scrap metal and reusable car parts, as well as the car’s make, model, age, weight, condition, and geographical location. For instance, in February, the average value of a Ford Focus, the most frequently scrapped car, was £300.

Top Scrapped Cars in February

Despite the overall increase in scrap car prices, there were notable variations among the top five scrapped car models in February. While the Ford Focus retained its leading position with an average scrap value of £300, other models, such as the Vauxhall Corsa and Ford Fiesta, also experienced significant price increases.

The Ford Focus saw a modest increase from £290 in January to £300 in February, marking a 3% rise. Conversely, the Vauxhall Corsa experienced a more significant uptick, with prices climbing from £219 to £232, reflecting a 6% increase. The Ford Fiesta witnessed the most substantial jump, soaring from £262 to £290, indicating an 11% surge in February. In contrast, the Renault Clio experienced a slight decrease from £216 to £209, representing a 3% decline. Meanwhile, the Vauxhall Astra also saw an increase, rising from £235 to £249, marking a 6% change.

Opportunities and challenges which Volvo Cars is facing will be presented including engagement with 3rd parties and increasing pressure from stakeholders.
