Gearing up for first auction at Copart Gloucester

As Copart prepares for its inaugural auction at the Gloucester site in May, works on the ground are progressing swiftly. With an additional storage capacity for 30,000 vehicles annually, Copart aims to meet the growing demand in the Southwest. This expansion reflects Copart’s commitment to efficient operations and customer support.

“Works on the ground at our new 30-acre site in Gloucester are gathering pace and we’re busy getting everything ready for our first auction in May.  

Not only is the UK car parc growing and becoming more diverse, but we’re also seeing a huge rise in extreme weather events, so we know how important it is to remain ahead of demand and have the ability to keep increasing storage capacity for our customers.  

Here at Copart, we’re proud of our ability to collect, handle, and store vehicles quickly, efficiently, and with minimal environmental impact. And we want to keep moving forward, always. That’s why we’re continuing to invest into expanding our landbank and operational network across the UK. 

Our Gloucester site will provide storage for an additional 30,000 vehicles per annum, significantly boosting vehicle storage capacity for our customers operating in the Southwest of England.

Owain joined Volvo Cars in June 2021 to lead Circular Economy in the Global Sustainability Team. The company has committed to being a circular business by 2040 and has financial, recycled content and CO2 based targets for 2025, all of which Owain is working across the company to make happen. Owain previously worked for circular economy consultancy Oakdene Hollins where he advised businesses on evidence led circular economy implementation.

The presentation will cover the work Volvo Cars is doing to achieve 2025 but mainly focus on the transformational work towards 2040 and the business and value chain changes being considered. Attention will be paid to the way vehicles are being dealt with at the end of life and the complexities of closing material and component loops. Opportunities and challenges which Volvo Cars is facing will be presented including engagement with 3rd parties and increasing pressure from stakeholders.
