Ageas, a prominent insurance company, shared insights with ATF Professional on the increasing adoption of green car parts. As pioneers in this eco-friendly shift, Ageas continues to champion collaboration and innovation, significantly reducing carbon footprints through sustainable repair practices. Their efforts underscore the importance of a circular economy and highlight the broader impact of green initiatives in the insurance sector.
Growing Adoption of Green Parts
Ageas was at the beginning of the change in attitude to using green car parts, and we are continuing to look at more ways to encourage customers and suppliers to reduce our collective carbon footprints by using green car parts, helping our circular economy and repair over replace strategy.
Collaboration in Vehicle Recycling
Ageas has seen year-on-year growth in the uptake of green car parts in 2023, and that trend is set to continue in 2024. In 2023, by using green car parts on vehicle repairs, Ageas helped to save 539 tonnes of CO2 emissions from the manufacture of new parts. By supporting our network, we see all gains in the reduction of CO2 as a key part of our day-to-day operations.
Sustained Commitment to Green Repairs Across the Ageas Network
Aside from this empirical evidence of the continued success of green car parts, we can also judge our success by the continued high level of commitment to sustainable repairs that we continue to enjoy from our network of solution centres.
Strengthening Partnerships for Sustainable Vehicle Repairs
This success is due to the strength of our partnerships with suppliers, where collaboration on our circular salvage solution is vitally important. This partnership goes far wider than green car parts and repairing vehicles; it includes introducing solution centres to emerging sustainable solutions, including number plate recycling and expert repair over replace training. All of which ultimately allows for vehicle repairs to be carried out in a more sustainable way.
