Last night, 18 June, at the regional Solent 250 Business Awards 2024, Silverlake won the Climate and Sustainability Award for the company’s dedication to eco-conscious practices, commitment to environmental stewardship and contribution to climate action within the automotive recycling industry.

As part of its sustainability strategy, Silverlake is committed to zero waste to landfill by 2030 and SBTi targets to reduce its carbon emissions by 42% in the same time scale. The company is accredited to ISO 14001 Environment Management System and its Environment Policy is under continual management review, focused on minimising carbon emissions together with any other harmful or wasteful practices. The company has invested in a bespoke system engineered to capture and track its carbon emissions throughout the entire cycle of processing a vehicle.  Intelligent fleet management software is used to ensure transporters and delivery vans are running at maximum capacity and using efficient route planning, whilst bulk parts deliveries to Silverlake’s hub in the Midlands reduces mileage further. LED sensor lighting is used throughout the company’s 10-acre Southampton site and draw on the national grid is reduced via 50KW of solar panels installed on the roof. Rain water harvesting is used for sanitary facilities and paper and cardboard is recycled for packaging of parts in transit.
