CarTakeBack provides the latest insights into scrap car prices for May 2024. During this period, the average price paid for a scrap car increased by 2%, reaching £250. This modest rise, equivalent to an extra £5 for those who scrapped their cars in May, marks a positive turn following April’s notable decline, which saw the lowest average price of the year. Early indications suggest that this upward trajectory may persist into June, potentially heralding further increases with the onset of summer.

Top Cars Scrapped in May
In May, the Ford Focus continued to hold its position as the most frequently scrapped car with CarTakeBack. This model has consistently remained at the top of the table, reflecting its popularity among those disposing of their vehicles.
Interestingly, while the Ford Focus experienced a modest price increase of 3% from April to May, another notable contender, the Ford Fiesta, took a sharp downturn in value during the same period. After being the sole vehicle to witness a price rise in April, the Ford Fiesta saw a considerable decrease of 21% in May. This stark contrast between two prominent Ford models highlights the dynamic nature of the scrap car market and the varying factors influencing the value of different car models.
