Copart – A Greener Future As They Grow

Copart are heading towards a greener future as they grow and was recently presented with a trophy from the Carbon Literacy Project to mark their gold-level CLO status after officially achieving this milestone in December.

Becoming a Carbon Literate Organisation is an integral strand of our ongoing Plan-Net-Zero sustainability commitment, and Copart is making steady progress toward achieving Platinum Level CLO status.

Just like the Copart ethos:

“Always Moving Forward, We must all work together across the industry and play our part in creating a greener future.”

The automotive sector has a huge responsibility to champion climate action and carbon reduction, so Copart is playing their part wherever they can.

Starting at the ground level, Copart are doing this by developing buildings and infrastructure that are green, efficient, and sustainable in the long term, including LED lighting, paperless offices, green energy, and water recycling.

With Copart owning the largest dedicated salvage and vehicle transportation fleet in the sector, they know that how they operate it really matters. Copart has reduced the number of miles travelled and fuel consumption significantly by operating a Euro VI-compliant fleet, utilising its dynamic routing capabilities, and introducing unique fuel efficiency systems.

As Copart continues to grow at a rapid pace, they are doing everything they can to protect the environment around them. When building new Operation Centres and refurbishing existing ones, they are designing our buildings to be ‘fit for the future’ and offer strong green credentials. That means ensuring that they are inclusive, energy efficient, and constructed in an environmentally friendly way.

And despite their growth, they have retained a strong focus on maintaining biodiversity and currently have over 155 acres of green space across their nationwide locations.

There is, of course, more work to be done. Keeping them on track to achieve their net-zero goals is their alignment with the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi), and just one of the sustainability initiatives Copart are currently working towards is ISO 14064 (Managing Greenhouse Gas Emissions).

“There is still a long journey ahead, but we’re moving forward, and we’ll keep you updated as we achieve our sustainability milestones.”
