CarTakeBack Provides the Latest Scrap Car Prices for July 2024

CarTakeBack’s July 2024 update reveals a slight dip in scrap car prices, with the average now at £251. Despite this 2% decrease, prices have remained stable around £250. The Ford Focus tops the list, with an above-average scrap value.

The average price for scrapping a car in July 2024 stands at £251, representing a slight decrease of £4 compared to the previous month. After experiencing two months of consecutive price increases, scrap car values have dipped by a modest 2% in July. Despite this minor reduction, the prices over the past three months have remained relatively stable, hovering around the £250 mark.

The Ford Focus: Most Frequently Scrapped Car in July

In July, the Ford Focus once again emerged as the most frequently scrapped car, with an average scrap value of £279. This figure is notably 11% higher than the overall average scrap car price for the month. For owners of Ford Focus vehicles that are nearing the end of their lifespan, now may be an opportune time to consider scrapping, as the current value is relatively strong compared to other models.

Analysis of the Top Scrapped Cars in July

The Ford Focus leads the list of the most commonly scrapped vehicles, but it wasn’t the only car to see significant movement in scrap prices. Among the top five scrapped cars, three models experienced a decrease in value compared to June, while one model maintained its price, and another saw an increase.

Vauxhall Corsa: The Vauxhall Corsa was the only model among the top five to see an increase in its scrap value. The average price for scrapping a Corsa rose from £215 in June to £237 in July, representing a 10% increase.

Ford Fiesta: The Ford Fiesta experienced a 4% decline in its scrap value, dropping from £260 in June to £234 in July. This decrease aligns with the overall trend observed in the market this month.

Vauxhall Astra: The Vauxhall Astra also saw a reduction in its average scrap price, falling by 9% from £245 in June to £236 in July. 

Vauxhall Zafira: The Vauxhall Zafira remained steady in its scrap value, maintaining an average price of £276 in both June and July. 

July saw a slight overall dip in scrap car prices, with the average price settling at £251. The Ford Focus continues to dominate the scrap market, offering one of the highest values among the most commonly scrapped vehicles. Meanwhile, the Vauxhall Corsa stands out as the only model that has seen an increase in value.
