JustParts’ Journey into Green Parts

David Underhill, founder and director at Justparts.app, spearheads the quest to source Green Parts for vehicle preparation networks. He sheds light on the history, business model, and future prospects of these innovative companies, illuminating their evolution within the automotive industry.

JustParts' Journey into Green Parts  p

A Path Through the Automotive Industry

I have worked in the parts industry for 22 years, four years within franchise, 12 years within aftermarket suppliers and six within vehicle preparation facilities. While at a large preparation facility, I first met with Ian from Hills Salvage, who educated me on the advancement of Green Parts facilities, delivery schedules, warranties provided, costs vs OEM & supply and process, so we started dipping into utilizing the Green Parts proposition and quickly realised the value by adding this into the process.

I started JustParts in 2020, and as part of the JustParts proposition, we looked at growing the green value offering within our pricing process and added multiple VRAC green suppliers to JustParts, each supplier having similar offerings but each adding slightly different value to our customers (most which we have partnered have different strengths).

The JustParts team consists of 5 skilled individuals who have worked for many years in the automotive OEM and aftermarket parts sector’s and within vehicle preparation centres. They all understand the end-to-end vehicle preparation process.

Unraveling the Business Model

Justparts is a business that partners with vehicle preparation centers and brings value by introducing additional processes and sourcing structures through all channels of vehicle preparation. It seeks to reduce the cost per unit of parts preparation while maintaining the throughput of produced units. For one of our partners, we delivered a saving of nearly £300k in 2023 on green purchases alone and are on track to deliver the same in 2024.

Expanding Reach with Evolution Warranties: Enhancing Green Parts Supply and Dealer Support

I have recently partnered with Evolution Warranties, a prominent provider of extended used vehicle warranty products in the UK. This collaboration expands our reach into the Green Parts sector, assisting over 1500 dealers in reducing vehicle preparation costs and managing claims for obsolete or heavily back-ordered high-value parts.

We created Evolution Prep Direct (EPD) to bring industry-leading suppliers together, providing all vehicle parts for the preparation process direct to dealers. We’ve partnered with GSF Car Parts, offering same-day, direct delivery from over 200 outlets across the UK, including Northern Ireland, and we’re now focusing on green parts and are pleased to partner with Silverlake Automotive Recycling, a key player in green parts supply.

Speaking from Silverlake Automotive Recycling, Parts/Sales Manager, Carlo Vaccaro, said:

“Silverlake Automotive Recycling, a leader in the UK-wide supply of reclaimed vehicle parts, is delighted to be partnering with Evolution Warranties as they launch their UK-wide Evolution Prep Direct (EPD) scheme to enable dealers to significantly reduce vehicle prep costs while increasing profitability. Silverlake will be the supplier of quality graded, warranty assured, OEM reclaimed parts to Evolution Prep Direct, offering dealers savings of up to 70% on RRP. We look forward to supporting Evolution Warranties & Prep Direct with this new scheme and supplying our environmentally friendly reclaimed parts which represent huge cost and carbon savings for dealers.”

Speaking from Evolution Warranties, Paul Watson, Chief Trading Officer, said:

“We started Evolution Warranties with the main aim of saving dealers time and money by paying claims and keeping the dealer’s bills as low as possible, move on 12 months and the launch of EPD arrives to save our dealers even more money at a time when costs keep on rising. The addition of the partners in EPD like Silverlake not only offers amazing value for money for our dealers to save on their prep costs but also allows us all to do our bit for the environment.”

Evolution Warranties now incorporporates The AutoGroup and serves over 1500 dealers and is one of the fastest growing warranty company in the UK with the customers journey at the front.

Envisioning the Future of Green Parts

As Justparts: Within the vehicle preparation networks we partner with, cost and availability are key, but time is the most valuable asset within the process; each green supplier we work with has great lead times, with most parts being readily available off the shelf.

Education plays a key part in the future growth of Green Parts in the local market. When discussing green parts with potential partners, we educate fast and quickly about the advancement and transformation of the industry over recent years, and all the added benefits of Green Parts, from lead times, accuracy & warranty coverage which generally is not realized

At Justparts we are always seeking new suppliers and customers to bolster our networks.
