With the ATF Professional Vehicle Recycling Awards fast approaching on November 28th, now is the time to nominate those you believe deserve the Unsung Hero Award. This unique accolade, presented by ATF Professional, recognises individuals in the UK vehicle recycling industry who are sometimes overlooked for their commitment or achievements.

For those considering a nomination, examples might include someone with a long service history, exceptional customer service, exemplary and initiative work, or even individuals who have achieved something remarkable outside of the company, such as fundraising, charity activities, or volunteering.
This special award is presented directly by ATF Professional, alongside the two other awards – Outstanding Individual and Rising Star.
Unlike the other 13 categories, where a panel of independent judges chooses winners, these three awards are selected by the owners of the ARW-GROUP LTD, the producers of ATF Professional and Auto Recycling World.
Also, for these special awards, there’s no entry form to fill out; those wishing to nominate someone simply need to call ATF Professional directly or send them an email.
Haydn Davies, the editor of ATF Professional, said:
“There are some truly deserving and committed individuals in our industry who do outstanding jobs or have made remarkable achievements without receiving the recognition they deserve. It’s also an excellent way for employers to show their gratitude.
Presenting the Unsung Hero Award is one of my favourite parts of organising our awards events, as it is always truly unexpected for the recipient, who doesn’t know until it is announced. It highlights the importance that everyone in the vehicle recycling sector, regardless of who they are, plays a significant part in the industry. So I am very much looking forward to being contacted to hear about the great work and achievements being done by some fantastic people.”

Last year’s Unsung Hero Award went to Bob Westwood, a driver at Adam Hewitt Limited. Bob’s journey with the company began in 1978 when, at just 16 years old, he joined through the Youth Opportunities Programme. Starting as a body repair apprentice, he later became a full-time recovery driver. Over the years, Bob has faced the challenging task of recovering and salvaging heavy agricultural machinery from tough, remote locations. His dedication, professionalism, and role as a proud representative of Adam Hewitt Ltd have been evident throughout his long and successful career.
