The landscape of auto recycling is evolving, and VRA Certified recyclers now have an opportunity to expand their reach with the introduction of vrac.parts. Following a successful soft launch, this new platform is officially live and available for use.
VRAC.PARTS is not just another marketplace—it is a non-competitive service for certified recyclers developed by VRAC, a not-for-profit company in collaboration with Eladene software. The core purpose of this platform is to connect buyers and sellers without interference in pricing, after-sales, or other commercial elements. This initiative is designed to support VRA certified recyclers and promote higher levels of parts reuse on the basis of industry-leading product & service standards, making the system a valuable tool for both professional recyclers & repairers.
For vrac.parts to reach its full potential, it is crucial to have a vast inventory available from as many certified recyclers as possible. Currently, the platform hosts approximately 1.6 million parts, primarily sourced from Eladene and BreakerPro users. However, the goal is to see this number grow substantially in the coming months as more recyclers, including Pinnacle users and those utilising their own inventory systems, come on board.
A key feature of vrac.parts is the potential for increased inter-trading between recyclers. The platform can enhance supply chains and efficiency across the sector by simplifying access to quality-assured parts within a trusted network.
A Platform Built on Certification and Quality
At this initial stage, the vrac.parts portal is strictly B2B and requires pre-registration and authorisation. Only VRA certified recyclers who provide VRAC with a BS10125 Certificate of Conformity (CoC) will be eligible to list their parts. This ensures that the platform maintains high standards for both product quality and service.
As we progress into 2025, VRAC may shift its auditing focus towards parts and quality control processes rather than legislative compliance. A review of the VRA Standard will inform this direction, ensuring that vrac.parts continue to uphold the highest industry standards.
Broadening the Scope of Interest
While there is already some engagement from insurers, the scope of vrac.parts extend beyond body shops. MOT stations, garages, and salvage repairers stand to benefit significantly from access to a vast inventory of parts from certified recyclers. This broad approach ensures that the platform supports the entire auto repair ecosystem, encouraging greater collaboration and efficiency.
How to Get Involved
The process is straightforward for certified recyclers looking to showcase their parts on vrac.parts. Interested parties should reach out to Dave Picking or the team at Eladene for further details on how to list their inventory and become part of this growing network. It can be connected to via API and Eladene can assist with this.
The success of vrac.parts depend on industry participation. By joining the platform, certified recyclers can help shape a more efficient and sustainable future for auto parts reuse. The time to act is now—let’s drive this initiative forward together.
For recyclers that are not certified, more information about the certification process can be found on the VRA Certification website www.vrac.uk
Dave Picking is the owner of Eladene Systems and VRAC.PARTS collaborator commented:
“With VRAC.PARTS, we’re offering certified recyclers a unique opportunity to expand their reach and strengthen industry connections. This platform fosters collaboration and efficiency in auto recycling, ensuring quality and sustainability drive our future.”
Chas Ambrose of the Vehicle Recyclers Association and VRAC.PARTS said:
“VRA Certified recyclers have made huge commitments to improve the performance & perception of their products & services – they are truly industry-leading. This new co-operative parts portal aims to further commercially support those commitments. The timing couldn’t be more opportune, with the EU ‘Vehicle Circularity Regulation’ drawing ever closer, meaning that recyclers will play an increasingly significant role in vehicle circularity. We encourage all certified recyclers to get involved, & those recyclers that are either no longer certified or have never been certified to get involved.”
Stuart Mann, Owner of Reclamet and a VRAC.PARTS user said:
“The VRAC’s new Parts Platform is a game-changer for our industry, creating a seamless, user-friendly marketplace for certified vehicle recyclers. With over a million quality parts already listed and more to come, it’s a no-brainer for buyers and sellers alike. This platform levels the playing field, enhances efficiency, and drives sustainability. At Reclamet, we’re fully behind it. The future of vehicle recycling is here—let’s embrace it together.”
