IRT – Why You Can’t Afford to Miss This EV Battery Webinar

As the automotive industry shifts ever faster toward electrification, the implications for auto recyclers grow more complex and critical. Lithium-ion battery is one of the most valuable and challenging components of electric vehicles at the centre of this transformation. On this front, an unmissable opportunity is coming your way.

IRT - Why You Can’t Afford to Miss This EV Battery Webinar soc

Join us on April 29th for a powerful, insight-driven webinar hosted by the International Roundtable on Auto Recycling (IRT), featuring two of the world’s leading voices in EV battery policy, strategy, and circular economy thinking: Emil Nusbaum and Hans Eric Melin.

IRT - Why You Can’t Afford to Miss This EV Battery Webinar EM

Emil Nusbaum, Vice President at the Automotive Recyclers Association and a key figure in US policy shaping, will break down the Battery Material Use Hierarchy, a critical framework developed in collaboration with Argonne National Laboratory. This hierarchy offers a practical roadmap for ensuring EV batteries are reused and recycled according to their highest and best use. For auto recyclers, this means real-world guidance on positioning themselves at the forefront of a growing market segment with regulatory and commercial relevance.

IRT - Why You Can’t Afford to Miss This EV Battery Webinar HEMJoining him is Hans Eric Melin, a globally recognized expert in lithium-ion battery life cycle management and founder of Circular Energy Storage. With two decades of experience in clean tech, Hans Eric will share exclusive market insights and data-backed analysis that cuts through the noise. He’ll spotlight the trends shaping EV battery reuse and recycling and what recyclers need to know to stay ahead.

Whether you’re a recycler, investor, policymaker, or part of the broader automotive ecosystem, this is your chance to hear from two experts helping to steer the future of electric vehicle sustainability.

Owain Griffiths

Head of Circular Economy at Volvo Cars

Owain joined Volvo Cars in June 2021 to lead Circular Economy in the Global Sustainability Team. The company has committed to being a circular business by 2040 and has financial, recycled content and CO2 based targets for 2025, all of which Owain is working across the company to make happen. Owain previously worked for circular economy consultancy Oakdene Hollins where he advised businesses on evidence led circular economy implementation.

Turning into a circular business and the importance of vehicle reuse and recycling.

The presentation will cover the work Volvo Cars is doing to achieve 2025 but mainly focus on the transformational work towards 2040 and the business and value chain changes being considered. Attention will be paid to the way vehicles are being dealt with at the end of life and the complexities of closing material and component loops.
