Mark Bennett, Head of RAW2K and SCN, discusses the evolution and future direction of RAW2K, a leading UK vehicle collection and disposal specialists. He shares how the company’s personalised approach, strong community ties, and recent tech innovations are driving unprecedented growth, setting them apart in a competitive market.
RAW2K offers a complete vehicle collection and disposal service across the whole of the UK for numerous clients, including police forces, insurance companies, councils, fleet companies and the highways Agency. With 25 years of experience, the company has been supporting both public and private sector clients by boosting their vehicle returns through our online auction platform, while ensuring all vehicles are disposed of in line with best practice environmental legislation and providing certificates of destruction to the DVLA.
The business was established in 2000 after the founding director identified a gap in the market for smaller breakers to auction higher-value vehicles. Following a successful trial partnership with the Police Service, RAW2K continued to secure additional contracts and expanded into a wider UK market. Over many years, we have grown to become the main player in this market and now hold contracts with more than two-thirds of the UK’s police forces.
Fast forward to today, and the business is in a stronger position than ever. Following the dissolution of the original group company, RAW2K is now owned by Global Ardour Recycling, who support the auctioning and disposal of vehicles from over 15 sites across the UK.
In Summer 2024, a dynamic new management team was introduced to drive the company forward, and the results speak for themselves. Month after month, the company has achieved record-breaking vehicle sales, the highest collective number of contracts, and a record number of new customers are joining daily. These milestones have firmly propelled RAW2K into a new era of growth.
One of the key factors that sets us apart in comparison to other online auction houses is that, while we have grown, our personalised approach to selling and buying auction vehicles has remained. A self-proclaimed ‘Boutique’ auction house allows for clients and customers to get to know the RAW2K team on an individual basis, providing a personal touch that is unrivalled in the current market.
However, while this personal touch remains at the heart of day-to-day operations, RAW2K is keen to make the customer journey more streamlined by improving the technology platforms. In March 2025, RAW2K introduced the online ‘collection system’, enabling customers to schedule a specific time to pick up their vehicle. This will soon be taken to the next step as developments are already underway for the website to be accompanied by a bespoke app in order to allow customers to view and bid for vehicles more conveniently. The expected launch date is Summer 2025.
Whilst UK Police Forces remain RAW2K’s core business, additional council and financial instruction contracts have allowed for a bigger variety in stock to become available, appealing to a wider audience. The business is continuing to work with an increasing number of smaller ATFs, offering a free auction platform facility to an audience of over 15,000 active buyers.
Above all, RAW2K remains firmly committed to providing social value within local communities, and remains one of the largest contributors to Recycling Lives Charity, who support the community by re-distributing surplus food to local charities and community centres, as well as supporting ex-offenders back into work. RAW2K also partners with numerous other charities across the UK, focusing primarily on crime prevention by supporting and working with younger children to upskill and provide opportunities to avoid future crime.
2025 continues to be a defining year, with the brand receiving unprecedented awareness. With the growth of both the customer and contract base, combined with significant technology platforms, it’s evident that RAW2K is an auction house going places!
