Global Car Recycling Day – 20th June 2025

20th June 2025 will be the third annual Global Car Recycling Day.

The worldwide car industry has experienced huge changes in economic and environmental policies in the last twelve months. The need for Global Car Recycling Day not only remains relevant but utterly vital to the related industries’ long-term survival and the protection of our planet.

Global Car Recycling Day - 20th June 2025 pResources are finite. The environment is suffering, which we have seen through shocking results of climate change. Economics and political instability are throwing curve balls at stressed and stretched industries from steel recyclers to vehicle manufacturers. But what we can be sure of is that the public demanding responsible car recycling across the planet can drive change and, in turn, enable circular economies and true sustainability that will protect the car industry and the environment.

Of the 1.4 billion cars on our roads globally, still, 13 million will not be recycled because people are not aware of, or don’t have the option to make, an environmentally responsible choice when their vehicle gets to the end of its life. To maintain the world’s most popular form of travel into the future, the public, authorities, and the entire car industry must engage – raising awareness of the importance of responsible car recycling, campaigning for tighter regulations and support for car recycling infrastructure across the globe.

“While progress is being made – vehicle manufacturers’ improving their sustainability strategies, some authorities and governments tightening regulations and simply more individuals making those vital decisions to have their car recycled responsibly – there are still millions of cars that won’t be de-polluted and recycled effectively. Vast areas of the globe, despite having numerous car owners, don’t have the infrastructure to support responsible car recycling.

We must all work together to make change happen faster – more people making the right decisions where this service is available, and more advice and support for parts of the world where regulations are still years away. Awareness and action will be the only way we’ll avoid millions of cars polluting our planet and wasting potential resources.

Global Car Recycling Day is the opportunity for us all – organisations and individuals worldwide – to drive awareness and real progress for car recycling.” Global Car Recycling Day team

To avoid environmental harm and to ensure the protection of sustainable car production into the future, use #GlobalCarRecyclingDay on June 20th to start the conversation. Help drive the campaign and show your support.
