Silverlake Automotive Recycling will continue supporting Hampshire Police’s Roads Policing Training Unit through 2026 by providing access to its Southampton and Shedfield sites and a range of vehicles for the three-day PG9 course. The partnership gives officers hands-on vehicle inspection training, strengthening prohibition powers and helping keep roads across Hampshire and Thames Valley safer.
Silverlake Automotive Recycling has confirmed its continued support for the Hampshire Roads Policing Training Unit throughout 2026, reinforcing its commitment to helping to improve road safety across the region.
Building on a successful partnership established over recent years, Silverlake will once again provide access to its Southampton facilities and a range of vehicles to support the delivery of the mandatory Prohibition PG9 course. The course is attended by Roads Policing officers from both Hampshire Police and Thames Valley Police and plays a vital role in enhancing officer capability on the region’s roads.
The three-day PG9 course grants officers the powers of an authorised Vehicle Examiner, enabling them to prohibit any motor vehicle that presents an immediate danger to its occupants or other road users. By offering real-world training environments and vehicles, Silverlake helps ensure officers can receive practical, hands-on instruction that directly translates to safer roads.
Tom Harvey, Head of Organisation Development at Silverlake Automotive Recycling, said:

“Road safety is something that affects every one of us, and we’re proud to play a small but meaningful role in supporting the officers who work tirelessly to keep our region safe. By continuing to provide our Shedfield site facilities and vehicles for this vital training, we’re helping ensure Roads Policing officers have the skills, confidence and real-world experience they need to make informed decisions out on the road.”
The partnership has already supported the successful delivery of multiple courses over the last two years, with positive feedback from both trainers and officers.
Martin Vine, Roads Police Training Officer, added:
“We have run this three-day course numerous times over the last two years at Silverlake’s site in Southampton. The facilities and vehicles they make available to our officers and trainers not only help to make this training possible but undoubtedly contribute to its success. We are extremely grateful to Silverlake for their continued support.”
Silverlake Automotive Recycling’s ongoing collaboration with Hampshire Police reflects its wider commitment to responsible vehicle recycling, community engagement and supporting initiatives that deliver tangible benefits across the South East.
