CarTakeBack provides November’s scrap car price which sees an increase on this time last year.
November saw a second lockdown in England, the easing of one in Wales and increasing tiered restrictions in Scotland. Despite restrictions, CarTakeBack.com were able to maintain their service throughout across the UK and this month are happy to report that November saw the highest average scrap car prices of the year so far! Making it the seventh consecutive month to see an increase in the average prices being paid for scrap cars.
Prices were up by 4% compared to October and compared to this time last year, they’re up by 13%.
With the festive period ahead of us and various restrictions still in place across the country, we’ll be keeping an eye on how prices are faring.
Top Cars Scrapped in November
For the fifth consecutive month, the Ford Focus was the most common vehicle scrapped.
There’s been no movement in the top cars scrapped compared to last month, again the Ford Focus was closely followed by the Vauxhall Corsa and the Ford Fiesta.
About the CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index
The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is a rolling monthly index covering the last 13 months. It’s updated monthly using the prices paid for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout the UK. The prices are shown as a percentage, using the first month as the base price.
We’ve taken into account that cars come in all shapes and sizes, which has an effect on their scrap value, by adjusting the prices to show what the average car would be worth. This means that the index gives a great indication of the movement in the value of scrap cars from one month to another.
