Cartakeback, the charity Car scheme has enabled supporters to donate their old cars.
A scheme which has been running for six years and has now hit this huge total. But they won’t be stopping any time soon.
More Official Partners are joining all the time and more generous people donate their cars to causes from huge national charities like Cancer Research UK and BBC Children in Need, to small local causes like Brent Lodge Wildlife Hospital and The Haven refuge in Wolverhampton.
It was a donation of a Suzuki Jimny by Helen Roberts in Gloucestershire who pushed donations over £250k and she was delighted with the service: “Donating to Charity Car is so easy and quick. The lady who answered my call on Thursday afternoon was very helpful and the Jimny was collected early Friday morning. The car was collected from my home, I didn’t have to drive to the scrapyard or find someone to drive me back home. And I’m very pleased with the amount my old car raised for my chosen charity. I will definitely be using them again.” Helen’s car raised £336 for her chosen cause, Charity Car Official Partners – Alzheimer’s Research UK.
Official Charity Car Partners and recipient of the £250k reaching donation, Fundraising Officer Gillian Edwards of Alzheimer’s Research UK said: “We’re incredibly grateful to CarTakeBack and Helen for helping to power dementia research through the Charity Car initiative. Thanks to this donation, Alzheimer’s Research UK is able to continue funding the very best research which will lead us to a life-changing treatment for dementia.”
“We’re also delighted that Helen’s donation has brought the total amount raised for charity, through this initiative, to over £250,000. That’s a fantastic achievement for Charity Car, with so many causes benefitting from the generosity of its customers. It’s great to be part of such a worthwhile initiative, we really appreciate the support.”
