Guidance on how to complete waste or materials facility returns, and deadlines for submission including the waste returns form was updated by the Environment Agency (EA) at the end of June. Updates include the requirement to report data on your site’s technically competent manager (TCM).
Information includes the following:
- How to complete your waste return
- Deadlines for submitting waste returns
- Waste returns GOR spreadsheet
- Waste returns spreadsheet for email returns
- Materials facility combined waste returns spreadsheet
- Waste values picklist
- Waste conversion factors
- Disposal and recovery codes
It says, operators with an environmental permit must complete waste returns to tell the EA about the waste they have received or removed from their site. From April 2019, operators with a permit authorising waste activities must also include details about the technically competent manager at their site. The Environment Agency uses this information to monitor a site’s compliance with its environmental permit conditions and compile national statistics about waste. See the guidance on how to submit waste returns including the deadlines.
The form – Waste returns: email spreadsheet can be used to submit data by email if returns cannot be submitted online. For details on the waste returns email spreadsheet, click here.
Email national-operator-returns@environment-agency.gov.uk if you have problems sending your return.
The Environment Agency requires returns for sites in England. Send your returns for sites in Wales to Natural Resources Wales.
