The BVSF (British Vehicle Salvage Federation) have kicked off the new year by announcing new ways its members can benefit in 2018.
Firstly, AC Environmental has become a strategic partner and secondly, they have appointed Dennis Rafferty to help its members prepare for the CoTC examinations.
When asked how this can benefit members of BVSF, Roger West, Secretary General stated, ‘The BVSF, in an attempt to reduce the pressure on members in regard to the gathering pace of requests for Fire Prevention Plans, despite there being no ATF specific guidance documents provided by the Environment Agency, are proud to announce that AC Environmental Consulting Ltd have joined the ranks of the Federation as a Strategic Partner. AC Environmental Consulting Ltd have been trading for over 10 years, operating solely in recycling and waste management. In the last two years their work has increasingly been focused on assisting clients with Fire Prevention Plans for all types and scales of operations. They have had a number of FPPs approved now for car dismantlers but have advised that it has been a battle on every occasion to get the EA to understand the nature of the business and the level of risk. The FPP guidance, as a one size fits all document, solely aimed at metal recycling sites is both theirs and the BVSF’s view, not fit for purpose, but it is the guidance that Agency officers adhere to and we must begrudgingly accept at this present time. Furthermore, AC Environmental have offered a discount on their costs to all BVSF Members.
Also, just prior to the Christmas break the federation was asked if there was a possibility of any actual training with regard to CoTC examinations as some candidates were struggling to pass just using the revision books that BVSF supply free of charge on demand. The federation upon recommendation approached Dennis Rafferty, an experienced trainer in this field who has also agreed to act as the official CoTC trainer for the BVSF. Dennis has kindly offered a member-only training discount and is able to operate countrywide for training sessions.
Both AC Environmental and Dennis Rafferty will be attending the BVSF AGM and Seminar in April.
